Two month update
From Service Dog Training
2 month update: I'm procrastinating and avoiding working on stuff for my Greek final...so here's an update on the dog.
Sit and down have been pretty much mastered, though he occasionally still looks at me like I'm spouting gibberish (I call those "Pyrenees days"). He has also learned the joys of revolving doors, and they really didn't seem to bother him at all. He also got to experience the St. Louis Thanksgiving parade, which he didn't much care for, though he behaved ok. I think I can also say now that his house training is pretty solid, he hasn't had an accident in several weeks. We are still working on things like "stay" which he seems to understand but chooses to ignore, as well as the art of going through a buffet line without him going nuts about so much food being right at nose level. Heel could also use some more formal work, as he tends to pull just a bit if we get into crowds. He has taken well to his new pack, and now carries everything for me to school except my lunch (I felt that was asking too much). My laptop fits neatly into one compartment, and all my books balance it out well on the other side. He has also gained a decent amount of weight lately. I put him on self-feeds until he gets up to weight as he seems to like to eat in the afternoon and after we go to bed instead of morning/evening like I was feeding him. I'm still pretty happy with my choice, and he's already saved me a lot of trouble.
