From Service Dog Training

I am available to speak to groups of any size on a variety of topics about service dogs and disability. I am currently in Lawrence, KS and generally will accept speaking engagements within a 1 hour driving distance of Lawrence. Requests for presentations outside of this area will be considered based on my availability. You can contact me here.

Specific topics I can discuss:

• General service dog information: This presentation covers information on some of the common uses of service dogs and the public access rights of service dog users. This presentation is appropriate for community groups, scout troops and schools.

• Service dog information for businesses: This presentation covers the rights of service dog handlers in public places and the rights of business owners, managers and employees. This presentation is appropriate for corporate groups, employee meetings or training and Chamber of Commerce events.

• Service dog screening and security: This presentation explains proper procedure to respectfully and thoroughly screen service dogs entering a secure area. This presentation is appropriate for any organization that is responsible for screening people entering a secure area, including event staff and law enforcement.

Consulting Services

I am available to consult with service dog users and potential service dog users about dog selection and training issues. Consultations can be arranged in person in Lawrence, KS and surrounding areas, or by email or phone outside the local area. I am happy to discuss issues such as:

• Selecting a service dog candidate
• Temperament testing a current pet to determine if the dog has service dog potential
• Basic obedience for service dogs
• Public access and task training
• Determining if a service dog in training is ready to graduate to service dog status
