One month update

1 month update: So Kain and I had our 1 month anniversary on Thursday. Overall, I'd say it has been a successful month. Here's a bit of what we've accomplished: -Escalators: He really doesn't seem to mind the actual ride, but he doesn't much care for getting on them because he doesn't like that little piece of metal floor right before the stairs. However, he still does it without problem. -The mall: He still tends to pull just a bit in crowds, but his focus is getting better. Unless the person is holding enticing food or deliberately calling to him, he is pretty much ignoring them. -Class: He falls asleep almost immediately. -Restaurants: Still needs a little work as he hasn't formally learned down-stay yet, but he's getting the idea. -Wheelchair basketball games: I took Kain to their first home game of the season. He didn't seem to mind the noise or activity level at all, and he was even ok with being occasionally run into. -Doctor's offices: All my docs love him and say he'll be great for me. They are impressed with how well behaved he is already. -House training: A lot better. We still have the occasional accident, but for the most part if I don't forget to take him out, he's fine. -Formal obedience: Can't say we've had a lot of time to work on this. He knows sit very well, though on occasion he gets stubborn and refuses. We have started working on down, but it hasn't sunk in at all yet. Heel seems to be pretty much inbred for him, so we aren't formally working on it, more of a constant process. We haven't done stay yet either, but he's getting better at wait. I'm planning on hitting the obedience hard over Christmas break. I will say though that several people have commented on how obedient he is and have asked me where he was trained. :)

I ordered Kain's pack this week, but unfortunately there was a switch up in the mailing labels at the manufacturer and we got a pack designed for a Cocker Spaniel. A little disappointing, but I've already talked to the people there and the guy in California that got mine and I will just swap. So hopefully sometime next week he will have his new pack. Here's what I'm getting him: http://wolfpacks.com/banzai.htm . He's getting a size large, which may be just a tiny bit too big for him right now, but once he fills out it should be a perfect fit. In the meantime, the people at Wolf Packs say I can pad it with a towel to make it fit until he gains weight. The hope is that it will fit my laptop, though if it doesn't, I can strap it to the tie downs on the top of the pack.
