Meet Kain
From Service Dog Training
I have a dog now. His name is Kain, and he's a 2-3 year old Great Pyr / Collie mix. I got him from Columbia Second Chance. He's a big guy, about 70 pounds right now, and needs to gain about 15-20 to fill him out fully. His background is anybody's guess...but he's a really mellow, polite guy. He's housetrained, and he walks well on a leash, though he doesn't do an "official" heel. Right now he's asleep by my desk in my counter-terrorism class. I picked him up from his foster family at 8:30 this morning and he's been with me on campus and in class all day. So far he's learned about manual transmissions (and not sitting on the shifter), busses, elevators, tile floors and wet paws, stairs and wet paws, and sitting nicely in Brady Commons without stealing food. :) He seems to be very trainable, and is already amazingly well behaved. So after class today he'll go back to the foster family for a few days till I get him a vet appointment, then once he's given a clean bill of health, he'll move in with me and Cat and serious training will start. I'll try and post pictures once we have him permanently.
