About Kain
Kain was born October 20th, 2002. He was the result of an accidental mating between a working Border Collie female and a working Great Pyrenees male. Kain retained the brown and white coloring of his mother and the large bone structure and coat type of his father. Kain became a pet, but was pretty much an outdoor dog. He belonged to a traveling nurse who eventually found it necessary to move to an apartment that would not allow such a large dog. Kain was reluctantly surrendered to a local no-kill rescue at the age of 3. Kain progressed through training very quickly and took to his obedience and task training well. After about 6 months, Kain successfully passed the ADI public access test and having gotten the all clear from the vet and completed task training, Kain graduated from Service Dog in Training to Service Dog. Kain is now almost 8 and continues to be a stable, well-adjusted and competent service dog. Kain has a great fondness for vanilla frozen custard and cheez whiz. He hates thunderstorms, our vacuum cleaner (only ours, everyone else's are completely fine). He enjoys spending his free time rolling in sunny grass, chasing squirrels and trying to figure out how to open the microwave.
